Emma’s parents have a beautiful friend that has been visiting their garden in Herefordshire during the last couple of weeks. He seems to love the snow! He is yet to be named, let us know your suggestions?? We would love to see photos of furry friends that visit your garden too…please upload your photos to our Facebook wall www.facebook.com/joules
There are over 400 children that are supported by the village at present, all of the orphaned children are housed through the kindness of surrounding families in the community. When Alice first met the children they were gathered on the Mkandawire’s family land, where they meet every afternoon, to have supervised porridge, education and games.
On the family’s land there was a derelict church which was abandoned prior to completion and consisted of three walls and foundations. The family has donated this land and building and they always dreamt of completing and transforming it into a safe place for the children to sleep, rest and play. Alice thought that it would be fantastic to support the family to achieve this…
Their dream of having a stable base, home and centre for the children in the village came true on Saturday 29th August 2009 when Tilinanu was opened and became a safe haven for these 34 princesses where they have their food, education and love and the precious support that every child deserves.
One of the requests from the girls when Alice returned was wellington boots for the rainy season. We were very happy to help, and you can see the girls proudly wearing their wellies in the photos. For more information about the Tilinanu Orphanage click here.
