Next up Chatsworth and Luhmuhlen
Sadly Hambledon Horse Trials and Withington Horse Trials were cancelled due to waterlogged ground (despite the hose pipe ban!) Luckily Chubby (Cavalier Venture) had been to Sapey Horse Trials where he won his novice section.

Instead of Hambledon Emily and I went showjumping at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre near Gloucester with a lorry full. My horses were quite fresh and needed an outing, both Archie (Imperial Cavalier) and Tess (Kings Temptress) jumped well. Emily’s 2 horses also jumped well, she did her first ever 1.30m class with Mr Hiho and jumped a lovely clear to win the class!

What a huge shame that Badminton is cancelled, it really is gutting for everyone. I plan to reroute Apache Sauce to Chatsworth and then Luhmuhlen 4 star (Germany) in June. My 2 Olympic shortlisted horses Imperial cavalier and Kings Temptress weren’t running at Badminton so their plans of Chatsworth CIC*** in 2 weeks stay unchanged. Olympic selection will take place at the end of May so fingers crossed.

About Mary King

Mary King went to her first Badminton in 1985, finishing in seventh place, and finally won the event in 1992 with her horse, King William. She later won the event again in 2000 with Star Appeal. In 2001, whilst exercising horses at her home, she had a fall which broke her neck. However, less than a year later she was back at the top of the sport recording top ten placings at major international events including a 3rd placing at Burghley Four Star on her great campaigner King Solomon III. She has won four team gold medals at World Equestrian Games and European Championships. She has been British Champion four times, more than anyone to date. King has also represented Britain in five Olympic Games: 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004. She was in the Olympic team for 2008 with Call Again Cavalier who has since died, but taking Imperial Cavalier as reserve, as they moved into third place with team bronze. The three day event is being held in Hong Kong rather than Beijing. She married Alan King (known as David King) in 1995 and lives with him and their two children, Emily and Freddie, in Salcombe Regis, Devon. Current Horses Imperial Cavalier (by Cavalier Royale out of Gene Pool) Apache Sauce (by Endoli out of Saucy Secret) Fernhill Urco (by Corrado-Fly out of Orli) King Albert (by Mayhill out of Kings Gem) Kings Fancy (by Rock King out of Kings Mistress, full sister to Kings Gem) Kings Temptress (by Primitive Rising out of Kings Mistress) Kings Rock (by Primitive Rising out of Kings Fancy)
