10 Reasons to Love Fall

new season 7

It may bring the summer’s finale, but the new season has plenty to charm us. Crisp mornings, cozy nights, the welcome return of fall style and colorful leaves, conkers and pumpkins are on the way. Here’s why we’re celebrating this Fall…

We love Fall. It’s cozy but not too cold, warm but not scorching. The sun takes on a golden glow and the crisp crunch of leaves and occasional rainy afternoon gently remind us that Bonfire night and marshmallow toasting are just around the corner. From jam bubbling away on the AGA to the fresh smell of rain on the fields, we’ve brought together ten of our top reasons to fall in love with the new season.

1. Golden Colours

It happens slowly at first, the odd leaf here and there, the occasional apple on the branches, and before you know it the whole countryside is ablaze with warm yellows and fiery reds. The sun turns golden, the air has a warm glow about it and even the sunsets seem determined to show off. There’s nothing quite like it.

2. Crisp Country Mornings

Mist rising off the fields and a little nip to your nose is our favorite setting for morning walks with the dog. The dewiness of the fields and muffled birdsong lends a hushed feel to the morning. The world is just waking up and you know that the day is going to have clear skies and sunshine ahead.

3. Leaves, Leaves, Leaves

It is a truth universally acknowledged that lots of leaves, gathered into piles, must be jumped in. There’s something so completely carefree and cheery about kicking up leaves that it doesn’t matter how old you are, it’s impossible to resist a mountain of them. We know, we’ve tried.

4. Duvets and Dressing Gowns

As the nights creep in, it’s the perfect excuse to cuddle up in fluffy dressing gowns and snuggly socks and, if you’re really lucky, it might be chilly enough for a fire. Movie nights, blanket forts and reading marathons, September is the perfect time for them all.

5. Splashing Out

It’s wellies’ time to shine as the change in seasons brings puddles for splashing and muddy fields for rambling. As we cozy up to the pitter-patter of rain on the window, we love it all the more knowing that we’ll get to sport our wet weather wear later on.

6. Forager Feasts

There’s a hint of purple in the hedgerows as the blackberries begin to ripen and a pot to collect them is now a mandatory walking accessory. Purple-stained fingers are a common sight and a sure sign that a foraging feast is near! Whether it’s a few to sweeten your crumble or enough to start a jam factory, nothing says Fall quite like blackberries.

7. Warm Kitchen Comforts

Ripening fruit and cooler days are a welcome change to our kitchens too. Rich stews, crumbles and comforting bowls of soup are treats that only Fall brings. Barbecues and salads are all well and good, but they just can’t match a steaming dish of custard and apple crumble.

8. Seasonal Drinks

Coffee shops or country pubs are our favourite places to hide away when the seasons begin to turn over a new leaf. It’s time to swap the prosecco for hot cider, lemonade for coffee and resign ourselves to feeling deliciously cosy. The kettle is always humming in the background, and rediscovered mugs have pride of place once again.

9. All About The Layers

Scarves, sweaters, jackets and coats, oh how we’ve missed them! Mixing and matching is so much better with layers and piling on the cozy knits or adding a fun colour pop scarf brightens our day as much as our outfit.

10. Autumnal Scents

The air doesn’t just feel crisp, it smells crisp. Mornings don’t just feel fresh and dewy, they smell them too. We don’t know how to explain it! A trace of bonfire smoke on the breeze or a hint of earthy leaves from the garden, we love the scents that come with the new season.
