A Joules Picnic with Mini Travellers and The Ordinary Lovely

At Joules, we’re a fan of all things picnicking. From beautiful baskets, practical blankets to the all-important strawberries and bubbly. And as soon as the first warm sun of the year shines – we’re outside! Our good friends at the Mini Travellers and The Ordinary Lovely love the Great British outdoors just as much as us, so we sent them armed with everything they need for a fun day picnicking with their families. Here’s what they had to say…
Bluebells are out, tulips are dancing in gardens and blossom is everywhere, which must mean it’s time to start thinking about eating outside. Dining alfresco has to be one of life’s greatest pleasures and even more so when you have children.
With five children between us, meeting up and heading out for food can sometimes be a challenge. Will they like the food, can they fit us all on one table, will the children sit still and eat without disturbing other diners, will we enjoy it at all? But if you fill a picnic basket with everyone’s favourite things, and head outdoors, none of that matters.
The children can run around, grab an apple or a cake, throw a frisbee, play hide and seek and not bother any diners in sight! It’s a winning scenario for everyone. Us adults can sometimes even manage to have a natter in between running around after the young ones.
When it comes to selecting a spot to sit, Joules’ new picnic blanket will expand your options. It folds up quite small and the carry handles make it easy to transport. But the best thing is the waterproof base. Damp grass, no problem.
When it comes to dressing layers are key when having a picnic and with typical British weather light jumpers and cardigans are essential. Bothersome breezes can be banished by a piece of knitwear and if the sun disappears completely a sweatshirt is always good to have close by.
However if sitting on the ground isn’t your thing, fear not, Joules has this covered with lovely picnic chairs that come in a variety of designs and hand-drawn prints. Children don’t need to be left out either with lots of designs in their size too.
So all that’s left is for you to pack up your picnic and head out to your local beach, park or field and have fun eating outdoors.
