Breakfast in bed with blogger Bunty Living and family

The lovely fashion, lifestyle and family blogger Bunty Living shows us how her family spend cosy winter mornings.

There’s something truly comforting about spending lazy Christmassy mornings slowly waking up to the day, breakfasting in bed and being surrounded by the ones you love.

Whilst our morning starts might not be as peaceful (or quiet for that matter) as they once were, I live for these moments where we all pile into a heap of duvets and pillows and settle down (normally on our bed) to watch a festive movie, or to just play silly little games with the children.

Whilst many of our mornings these days begin at the crack of dawn with two bleary-eyed parents and three VERY wide awake little boys, the smell of brewing coffee and warm croissants never fails to take the edge off everyone and for me, this is a perfect recipe to begin the Christmas holidays with my lot, all bundled in together!

I have to admit it, comfortable bedding and nightwear do go such a long way in making these family moments feel that bit extra special. After all, if I’m going to be the designated coffee brewer, having a deliciously cosy dressing gown to throw on definitely sweetens the deal in bribing me out from beneath the warmth of my bed.

I always think Joules get it so right with their bedding and nightwear for the whole family. With fun, comfortable layers and coveted details like glow in the dark pyjamas, they’re always a hit with my boys who are such fans of the whole pyjamas/ slipper/ dressing gown combination anyway. No word of exaggeration, they frequently ask to wear their dressing gowns over their clothes when we are at home and, as far as slippers are concerned, they might as well be considered a daily uniform here!

With the Christmas holidays upon us, I am certain we will be spending a lot more time in our pyjamas as the daily work grinds to a halt and we savor the opportunity to just stop and all be together. After all, isn’t it practically a rule during the festive period to live in loungewear anyway? I can imagine us on Christmas day now, pottering about the place with a fire crackling in the background, Christmas movies playing on repeat and hot chocolate on tap! And then, after a wonderful feast with loved ones, snuggling down to sleep in our cosy beds with bellies full of mince pies and dreaming of Christmas morning once again!

Speaking of cosy beds, have you ever seen such a beautiful design as this Joules duvet print? As you know, I’m rather outnumbered by the boys in our family and so you can imagine, I spend a lot of my time engaging with stereotypical three-year-old interests. Whilst I could definitely wax lyrical on all things dragon, ninja turtles and lego related, when it comes to our bedroom space, (as the only room in the house that isn’t totally brimming with the boys’ things), I like to infuse it with more of a feminine touch. I’ve made a habit of looking to Joules for inspiration where I never fail to find ideas for pretty accents to brighten our room.

This bedding set is utterly gorgeous and I love how the vibrant colours pop against the white wash of walls surrounding the bed. I think the boys love it just as much though as Joules bedding is notoriously soft and sumptuous. In fact, the first time the boys saw the bed made with this particular set on, the roof was almost raised with crys of ‘ooh’s, ahh’s and woweee!’

I think we can all agree that the time of year to truly indulge with your nearest and dearest is upon us, so this Christmas, take a moment to pull on your slippers, stay in your pyjamas and celebrate the season in style!
