Picture the scene – it’s the end of the long working week, you’re a bit frazzled, the kids’ packed lunches (and yours) are a bit sketchy because despite stocking up the fridge at the weekend it now looks like a plague of locusts has been through it – they possibly have, post-school when you’re not there to save the cheesey strings and squeezy yogurts. The breakfast dishes are precariously stacked up, you’re not 100% sure that you shut the front door, switched the iron-radio-straighteners off/remembered to drop the children at school (kidding). And you’re definitely too nervous to look in the mirror because you’re not convinced you’ve put mascara on both eyes.
And then you remember that you have a ‘do’ to attend straight from work. Fear not. You can do this. You can pull this one out of the bag. And you can do it looking like a regular citizen of the world who didn’t have to tentatively look down on the way to the car this morning to make sure that there were shoes on those feet and not slippers, like you discovered last Wednesday morning…
It’s not really a trick; it’s just a bit of sensible outfit planning. Our designers always work with versatility of product in mind; we know how busy our customers’ lives are. A few tweaks, a change of shoes, some make-up stashed in your bag and you’re off. Here are our suggestions.
Opt for a Rosamund blouse; cut from a soft draping fabric it’ll look good all day long – and into the evening too, of course. A pop-over style, it’s designed to be dressed up or down. New season prints add some spark while pleats to the back and a relaxed neckline give it a laidback stylish look.
Desk: Wear with peg leg trousers and flat shoes.
The incredibly versatile Justine blazer is made from textured jersey tweed so it’s soft, easy to wear and maintains its shape beautifully. Finished with a unique-to-Joules print lining, it’s been a go-to favourite for many a season now.
Desk: Wear with a classic collared shirt and smart trousers for a work look that’s easy to wear, but looks smart too.
Do you have any desk to dinner tricks up your sleeve?
