Bunty Morton captures time off with her family beautifully on her blog Bunty Living, and she’s snapped here at one of her favorite places to enjoy the great British outdoors, the North Devon seaside. Read how Bunty and her beach babies make the most of their time in the sand.
My two boys and my husband Eddy and I spend much of our ‘time off’ at beautiful coastal spots Instow beach and Croyde beach, close by to where I grew up in North Devon. My husband Eddy grew up with a fascination of the sea which led to his great love of surfing. Our shared love of the ocean has rubbed off on our two young boys, and they are never happier than when they have the sand between their toes.
Children don’t have the same reluctance to run into the chilly West coast sea, and running back and forth with the tide will keep them entertained for whole afternoons. Noah loves crabbing, and although he likes to pretend to be helping purely out of dad duty, I suspect Eddy may enjoy discovering rock pool creatures even more than our eldest son. There’s nothing better than a child’s face when they find a new living thing lurking beneath a rock, and then look after it in a ready prepared bucket of water, pebbles and seaweed. Joules sent us some crabbing kits, buckets and mini windmills (pictured) to make the most of our recent beach trip, available in their usual vibrant colours from all Joules coastal stores. A big hit with my little (and big) explorers. Our favorite beach activity of all has to be a spot of industrious sandcastle building, so good for fun learning and skills development. We collect shells, driftwood, seaweed and pretty pebbles to decorate our often epic creations.
When it comes to our seaside adventures, Joules have it completely covered. From their wellies to their Right As Rain transitional coats, Joules outerwear ensures the showery British summer won’t stop our play. With little ones to consider, we have to cover all bases when we take the kids out to the coast. As mummy, it is normally my task to make sure we have all our day trip essentials on hand when we are loading up our car. Often it will look like a pile of contradictions: I will pack our sunscreen sprays next to our rain coats and wellies, our warm jumpers and socks alongside our towels and bathing suits. But that is why I love Joules, they know exactly what summer holidays in Britain necessitate and their designs are beautifully versatile for unpredictable weather.
Eddy and I have created a video which I would love you to watch. To me, it really represents why I love Joules and what it allows us as a family to do together. So why not pop the kettle on and settle down for a few minutes of cheerful entertainment?!
