Get Your Rugby On

You may have twigged by now that we love, love, love Rugby here at Joules, and Jonny Wilkinson’s legendary drop kick of the 2003 World Cup Final has remained one of our favourite moments of sporting history. By the end of the first half, England appeared to be in a very comfortable position at 14-5, but after a tumultuous second half against the reigning World Champions, Australia, they entered extra time at 14-14. With scores tied at 17-17 with a few seconds remaining, the greatest moment in English Rugby Union History happened. To celebrate our beloved England team and to help us warm up for the World Cup 2015, we recreated this final drop sequence on one of our rugby-inspired Harborough T-shirts, see our animated version below.

Here’s the break down

Step 1, No 9 Matt Dawson, scrum half, dummies through the ruck but gets tackled. Step 2, No 4 fills in his position as scrum half. Step 3, Martin Johnson, second row, runs with the ball but gets tackled. Step 4, No 9 Matt Dawson then returns to get ready to pass the ball out. Step 5, No 6 Richard Hill makes a dummy run to distract the opposition as Matt Dawson passes the ball to Johnny Wilkinson. Step 6, Wilkinson who is in position for his winning drop kick, lines the ball up and kicks it through the post to win the World Cup 2003 in magnificent style.
