Rhiannon, manager at our Sidmouth store tells us what to keep our eyes peeled for when visiting this beautiful part of England.
Sidmouth, on the Devon coast, is the typical seaside town. There are plenty of opportunities for fish & chips, followed by ice-cream on the Esplanade. Here you can watch surfers and paddle boarders drift by, take a seat to watch the magnificent sunsets over the bay, breathe in the sea air, even take a swim if it’s not too cold!
If you’re in need of retail therapy we have plenty of shopping opportunities, including our Joules store of course.
We’re spoiled for places to eat and drink with lots of bars and restaurants. The Clock Tower Café commands expansive views along the coastline, whilst Dukes overlooks the waterfront. If you’re planning on staying The Hunter’s Moon Hotel is said to be Sidmouth’s hidden secret. The Sidmouth Harbour and Belmont Hotels are also good choices.
A highlight for Sidmouth is our annual festival, Sidmouth Folk Week (July 31st to 7th August). It attracts people and their families from far and wide, hosting over 700 different events; the streets come alive and there’s a real festival atmosphere. This year will be the 61st event, will it be the year that you visit and attend? Be sure to come in and see us if you do.
