No matter if you’re planning to enjoy the Six Nations at the Cabbage Patch or watch your little one channel his inner Owen Farrell at the local park – being a rugby spectator is about to become a lot more stylish.
From the grass roots up – the sportsmanship, camaraderie and tradition of rugby is unrivalled. There’s a sense of ‘togetherness’ you just don’t get with other sports, rivalries no matter how fierce are well-mannered and respect for the referees is sacrosanct.
Come rain or shine (although it will most likely rain) a day out at the rugby is a great way to spend an afternoon. With soaking up the atmosphere from the stands and watching from the sidelines in mind, we’ve selected a few of our favourite styles to make enjoying your favourite sport a much more stylish affair.
For women, the Allendale Waterproof Parka is a sleek fitting yet flattering coat that ticks all the boxes and will be on hand to protect you from the elements so you don’t miss a minute of the action. Another great option is the Westport Fleece-Lined Waterproof Jacket – the perfect balance of form and function. Its longer length means more of you will be covered and the generous hood means driving rain won’t be a problem. The only thing that could spoil your day is your team not turning up (whether that’s literally or not depends on the level you’re watching).
For men, we’ve chosen the Go To Lightweight Padded Gilet. It provides warm without the weight and will look great over any sweatshirt or shirt. When it comes to something more substantial we’ve picked out the Retreat Quilted Jacket. It has a lightly wadded exterior that has been finished with suede trims and hides a quilted micro-fleece lining that makes this piece essential for outside jaunts during the cooler months. It’s worth mentioning that both look great when styled with a pint of Guinness and a packet of pork scratchings.
why we love rugby (and always have)
Girls can outwit the weather in the Kinnaird Padded Packaway Jacket. It’s great to have close by if the temperature takes a dive and the vibrant colours will make sure she stands out from the crowd. If she’d rather keep her arms free for cheering and clapping, the Silvan Quilted Gilet is a great option. Traditional yet contemporary, it’s a perfect piece for keeping her cosy in the coming months.
When it comes to boys, it’s all about easy to wear layers that they can throw on over anything. The Crofton Padded Packaway Gilet is a winning choice, it even comes with its own little carry bag that it can be stuffed into in an instant. And if you’re after something with sleeves, the Cairn Padded Packaway Jacket is spot on – wadded for warmth and comfort and complete with a soft jersey lined hood – it great for match days, school days, getaways and just running-around-the-garden-days.
And there’s no reason why the littlest little ones should miss out on any of the fun. Take them along to a game too – just make sure they’re well wrapped up. Baby girls can’t go wrong with the Mabel Quilted Jacket and baby boys can look as cool (and stay as warm) as Dad in the Milford Quilted Jacket.
So no matter whether it’s watching the Six Nations or six-a-side at the local rugby club, we’ve got you covered from the first whistle to the last.
