Ice cream, scooters and wellies on the beach

To celebrate our partnership with Micro Scooters for our storybook competition, British lifestyle blogger, Lauren Shepherd along with her son Archie explore what Portobello Beach has to offer (on a scooter)!
One of the many wonderful things about being a parent is that perfect excuse to be a big child again. Whether it’s a bumpy ride on the seesaw at the local park, or an afternoon in the garden kicking a football about – I just love channeling my inner 7-year-old and having fun with the boys.
So you can imagine my excitement when one of our favourite British clothing brands, Joules, asked us to enjoy a day out with Micro Scooters to celebrate their latest storybook competition.
Archie was thrilled he’d finally get to have one of the ‘original’ Micro Scooters he’s been eyeing up for years, as well as a lovely new outfit to get him ready for autumn.
Just a few days later, our delivery arrived. Not only two brand new folding Micro Scooters, but also a lovely new autumn outfit for each of us. I have a real thing for the timeless elegance of stripes and to my delight received a pair of striped wellies and a Breton top, not forgetting the comfiest and flattering navy skinny jeans and a bright red raincoat.
Archie got his own smart navy wellies and a stylish red, white and navy rugby style shirt. He was thrilled!
We couldn’t think of a better place to put the scooters to the test than the long and winding promenade at Portobello Beach. So that evening, while Grandma watched over little brother Ollie, Archie and I set off for an evening adventure in the windy late August sunset.
The great thing about a scooter is that it’s incredibly easy to get the hang of. Despite not riding a scooter since I was 8 years old, I felt as confident as Archie and we picked up quite a speed.
It felt so good to feel the wind in my hair after a day at work and Archie yelled and squealed the entire time, he absolutely loved it!
Thank you Joules and Micro Scooters for giving me the perfect excuse to be a big kid again and for making Archie so incredibly happy with that!
