1.Things you may not know
Mumbles is a pretty old fishing village on the outskirts of Swansea. We are on the Gower Peninsular and were recognised as the first Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the UK. Wales has an amazing coastal path which runs along the entirety of the coastline with spectacular scenery.
2.Our favourite finds….
Originally we were known as Oystermouth so if you’re heading by bus look for one going to Oystermouth because you won’t see a bus heading to Mumbles! The Mumbles was the name given to the distinctive headland. Oystermouth Castle is a must do, it’s a great place to explore, a small charge is payable however they often have great events on for children.
3. Things to do with the little ones
We have a Victorian Pier with a state of the art RNLI lifeboat station and an attractive lighthouse you can walk out to (watch out for the tide though).
4. The best place for a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake
The one thing you must do is try our ice-cream shops. Lots of Italians settled in Wales and brought their ice-cream with them. It’s a local debate as to which one is the best but our staff almost all agree that Joe’s wins (they even sell it in Harrods). Verdi’s is a close second but it definitely has the best views of Swansea Bay.
We are close to loads of amazing beaches, Gower Coast Adventures can take you on fab boat rides, dolphins were spotted only the other week.
5. The best place to get a good night’s sleep
If you fancy a bit of glamping we have our very own glamping village at Oldwalls , Gower, only a short drive away.
In Mumbles town Patrick’s has amazing accommodation and a fine dining experience as well.
Home from Home offers self-catering accommodation.
If you only do one thing in Mumbles then get off the beaten path and visit Blue Flag and Seaside Award winning beach Langland Bay.
We look forward to seeing you! We’re located at the top shops on Newton Road. Pop in and say hello.
6. The best place to find a good read
Mumbles has lots of independent boutique shops as well as national chains. Our independent book shop is called Cover to Cover just a few doors away from us. Where you can be assured of a great service.
