A new season means new prints at Joules. Gathering inspiration from near and far, our talented print team work from initial concepts, doodles and ideas to create what will become a finished print, destined to regale some of our favourite products
This season’s hero print is the Blossom. Inspired by a vintage design unearthed by the team in The Design Library in New York, it’s fast become one of our best-loved florals.
The Design Library is a mecca for anyone with a creative interest in textile design, whether that’s for the fashion and home interiors industry or graphic design. The library was founded 45 years ago by husband and wife team, Susan and Herbert Meller whose love for textile design, vintage prints and patterns and a huge passion for acquiring and collecting led to the foundation of a place to categorize, document and preserve everything from fabrics, wallpapers and embroideries to yarn dyes, original paintings and designs.
With a collection dating back to the 1750s it’s no surprise our team found a rich seam of inspiration. The original blossom print that was discovered in the library is believed to be hundreds of years old. Our print team took the basis of the archive print and spent time working with it to create a more contemporary finish that still had the delicate basis of the original.
The Blossom print has fast become one of our current favourites and it’s perfect for the coming season that’s full of the promise of spring.
Take a look for yourself.
The natural viscose that this top is made from and the draped design lend themselves beautifully to the natural lines of the Blossom print. With three quarter sleeves and a wider neckline it’s flattering too.
The flow of the Blossom print works beautifully as a placement print on our ever-popular Harbour Print top. Positioned over contrasting stripes it’s an eye-catching design that’s versatile and easy to wear.
Set against a background of deep navy the Blossom print truly stands out on this everyday dress. Made from jersey with well positioned pleats, it’s a wardrobe hero that will see you through all manner of occasions.
Another triumphant floral and stripe combination, the Kady cotton knit jumper truly shows off the Blossom. A step away from a traditional print, this jumper features the Blossom design as an intricate embroidery which adds texture and interest to this beautiful design.
