MEET… OUR MENSWEAR BUYER,

FAYE CHAPMAN

7th November 2016

We politely disturbed our brilliant menswear buyer (and Glastonbury regular) Faye to talk about everything from bands to best-selling styles. We also had time to talk about why working at Joules is so great…

When my ‘Out of Office’ is on, you’ll most likely find me…

At a music festival or a gig! Every summer I attend Glastonbury festival with friends, I would say it is my favourite week of the year, even with all of the mud!

A typical day is like this…

What I love about buying is every day is different, we juggle so many different seasons and day-to-day tasks can vary from approving trims, reviewing best-sellers, meeting with suppliers and even inspiration trips in the mix!

On a regular day I will always start with emails as we work very closely with the different teams. Then the rest of the day is often made up with meetings. Today I spent the morning with the design team looking at new ideas and colour palettes on paper. Then I was on to looking at next seasons samples ensuring that we are getting the best products into our stores!

I get my inspiration from…

I find Instagram really good for inspiration, I follow a lot of menswear accounts, so it is great for keeping up with trends. I regularly go out to stores, whilst I am out and about I am a big ‘people watcher’ I always like to see what people are wearing and how they style outfits.

Working at Joules is great because…

…of the people and the products!

I am lucky to work with a brilliant menswear team who all have a fantastic sense of humour which makes the days fun (see Crown Joules puns!), outside of my team, all departments are great and so friendly, I interact with lots of different departments on a regular basis, and what I find great about Joules is that you can always put a face to an email!

The other great thing about Joules is of course the wonderful (menswear) products. I am always very proud when I see it in stores after everyone works so hard to get the style from a design on paper to the garments you shop.

And because everyone likes to look at pictures, we asked a few questions to be answered by illustration.
