We politely interrupted our wonderful web designer (and Great British Bake Off fan) Lucy to talk about everything from web pages to globe-trotting. We also, of course, had time to talk about just what goes on at Head Office…
(Lucy is a little camera shy – so up stepped our illustrator)
I wanted to be a designer! I’m told I used to print off pages and pages of shoe ‘outlines’ and then colour them in with different patterns and styles. Clearly it was meant to be.
Travelling! I rarely book a day off and do nothing. I like to travel. From a day trip to a city to a three week tour around America’s National Parks. I am slowly ticking all the National Parks off my list. Last year I did a self-drive around Yellowstone National Park after about eight months of planning the trip. It was incredible. It’s like being on another planet.
Breakfast. Emails. Photoshop.
I’ll get into work a little early and have breakfast. Then I’ll catch up on any emails I have. The Graphics Web Team will then have a quick chat to decide the day’s tasks. I’ll then jump straight into Photoshop and start ticking the jobs off my list. They can vary from researching and designing an email, sketching the initial layouts for a lookbook, testing the usability of the Joules website and working out a strategy on how it can be improved.
Lots of different places! Day to day I visit websites such as Pinterest, AWWWARDS.com, cssdesignawards.com. Pinterest is great to look at when you want a wealth of inspiration from all different mediums – print, web, architecture etc. Where as AWWWARDS.com and cssdesignawards.com are websites which focus on websites and showcase the up and coming technologies. This helps me keep up to date with what’s going on in the digital industry.
And because Lucy is a dab hand when it comes to digital design, we asked her to answer the following questions… using pixel art – fancy!
