Meet the Characters: Q&A with Paul the Rabbit

30th October 2017

Paul is small, but he’s full of personality. He’s also a best friend of Emily Crackle and part of the ‘Famous Fur’. A group of pets consisting of Sausage, Montague, Paul and Molly.

Paul stars in A Christmas Tale. A beautifully illustrated book that is available to buy at all joules stores and online at joules.com.

What is your earliest memory?

When I was a tiny bunny, Tim used to hide me from Emily by placing me in a pair of old wellies. I remember being stuck inside them for two whole days. I was so scared.

Have you got a nickname?

Not really. Everyone just calls me Paul. Sausage called me ‘Little P’ once. I think he thought it would stick. But it didn’t.

What are you most proud of?

Last summer I learnt to paint. I studied still life, but soon grew tired of painting fruit. I requested that we paint vegetables, specifically carrots. One day I arrived at the lesson and on the table was a bowl of carrots. I painted like Ram Gogh (if you don’t know, he’s the most famous animal artist of all time). The painting turned out wonderfully. It’s currently hanging in the Crackle’s downstairs toilet. Which I’m not too proud of.

What do you do in your spare time?

I’m a rabbit, so naturally I love jumping. Over the last few months I’ve paired my love of jumping with extreme sports. I really want to join a trampolining club and I’ve just been given a pogo stick which I’m hopping mad about. It’s the best!

What’s the worst Christmas present you’ve ever received?

I once received a plastic carrot. Now I love chewing stuff as much as any rabbit, and I had a little nibble, but a plastic carrot. Really?

What’s your favourite Christmas carol or song?

I love carols and songs. My number one has to be Merry Christmas Every-Bunny. I have a really squeaky voice so I can hit all the high notes perfectly.
