Celebrations of mothers can be traced back to the ancient Greeks and Romans, who held festivals in honour of the mother goddesses Rhea and Cybele.
Fast forward a few (thousand years) and a lot has changed – not least that we’ve swapped our togas for Harbour Tops – and while we may not be holding festivals in their honour, we are very much looking forward to spoiling that special someone we simply call ‘Mum’.
Now we know kind words, a lovely card and breakfast in bed will come as standard (hint, hint) but there are a few other ways you can show her how much you care.
Feast your eyes on these stylish surprises that will really make her Mother’s Day.
An oversized scarf is a great gift idea. This particular lightweight style has been one of our favourites for quite a few seasons now and it can be worn in a number of ways (if you’re heading to the beach why not wear it as a sarong?). The hand-painted prints will make sure it stands out from the crowd.
A perfect Mother’s Day present, this bag is adorned with a stunning hand-drawn floral print and packed full of all manner of bathroom treats including bath soak, hand cream, body lotions and lots more.
This stylish wool mix jumper comes with a guarantee of ‘ooohs’ and ‘ahhhs’. It has different size stars to the front and back and also contrast tipping to the cuffs to really lift it out of the ordinary. In a relaxed fit that makes it easy to wear and style.
Classic yet contemporary is how we’d describe this essential everyday handbag. Made with heritage wool tweed, it will add colour and country charm to any outfit. With plenty of pockets for all life’s essentials and the option of a comfortable hand carry strap or detachable shoulder strap. A present we’re sure she love for years to come.
Every woman’s weekend wardrobe needs a pair of statement trainers and these tick every box in style. Crafted from the highest quality leather we could lay our hands on and finished with a contrast lining, they’re cool, comfy and casual – and will fast become her summer favourites.
How are you celebrating Mother’s Day this year?
