It has been said that “Mothers are the back bone of the family”, but what about Dads too?
To celebrate Father’s Day, British lifestyle blogger, Lauren Shepherd along with her lovely family share with the Joules Journal how they celebrate the day together!
Here’s what they had to say…
I know that I would be completely lost without the love and support of my partner Colin. As well as working full time, he helps me raise our boys, cooks, cleans and most importantly he takes 80% of my Instagram pictures. As I said, I’d be lost without him!!
Jokes aside, he really is a wonderful dad, and partner, and I probably don’t tell him that often enough. So when one of our favorite brands Joules Clothing asked us to share what makes the perfect Father’s Day, we jumped at the chance.
For us, one of the rules about ‘special days’ is that you have to be the last one out of bed in the morning. After a long lie in (that’s 8am in ‘Parent World’) we surprised Daddy with coffee and biscuits in bed. Well, if you can’t eat biscuits for breakfast on Father’s Day, when can you?
These adorable personalized cookies are from THE KITCS-HEN. Of course Colin had to share them with Ollie too.
Ollie was so excited to help open the gifts, tearing through the brown paper and ribbon. These Shirts are the best cut and fit, Colin has them in every colour now. We also treated him to this blue check number in a slightly slimmer fit. A new wallet in the softest tan British Leather, this one is a beauty.
While the boys got dressed for a day outdoors I prepared a picnic brunch of “Daddy’s Favorite Bacon Rolls” and Bucks Fizz.
Bacon Rolls are a big deal in our house. Colin’s dad makes the very best ones, and we’re forever trying to make them as perfectly. Colin gave me an 8/10 for this attempt. More ketchup next time!
Even on a rainy day, we just love the countryside this time of year. Eating alfresco always feels a bit special and Ollie is entertained running around exploring in the fresh air.
Becoming a parent really does make you realize that the simple things are sometimes the very best things. For the Daddy in this house, a stress-free-bacon-roll-picnic with the ones he loves is just as good as a fancy restaurant, any day!
The rain stayed away while we enjoyed our simple brunch and a little fizz in the great outdoors.
Thank you Joules for giving us the perfect excuse to have two Fathers Day’s this year!
How will you be spoiling your Super-Dads this year?
